What is Medication-Assisted Treatment?

MAT is the gold standard for opioid use disorder treatment. By combining medication with therapy, we address both the physical and psychological aspects of addiction. Our providers prescribe medications like Buprenorphine/Suboxone to normalize brain chemistry and block the euphoric effects of opioids.

Counseling

Counseling & Behavioral Therapy Content: Medication is just one part of recovery. Our licensed counselors provide individual and group therapy sessions to help you develop coping strategies, repair relationships, and build a strong support system.

Insurance

Insurance & Payment Options Content: We remove financial barriers to care. VAMED Health Group accepts.

Our team at VAMED is comprised of licensed healthcare professionals and peer support staff who are passionate and intentional about the care that we provide. Services can range from initial assessment and evaluation to ongoing maintenance of known conditions. Our treatment modalities combine various therapeutic treatments including medication & talk therapy. Treatment plans are individualized for the specific needs of our patients.

Substance Use Disorders

As a Certified Office Based Addictions Treatment (OBAT) provider, we are trained and recognized by Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services to provider comprehensive care for Substance Use Disorders. We recognize that recovery is a journey that looks different for all individuals, and focus our efforts on maintaining individualized care for each patient, depending on their needs and circumstances. Our treatment modalities include Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Therapies, Substance Use Counseling, Care Coordination, and Peer Support Services.

Care Coordination & Case Management

Our team of care coordinators facilitate care through collaboration with each patients individual care team. The purpose of care coordination is to meet a patients medical, behavioral health, and other health care needs through facilitation of referrals and services. As we focus on the unique circumstances of each individual, care coordination will include the discussion and planning of various dimensions of health including resource support for individual needs and assistance.

Functional Medicine

Our providers treat mental health and substance use with a ‘whole-person approach’. This means we address physical, behavioral, emotional, and social services to promote patient-centered health. By addressing the physical health needs of our patients, or through the collaboration with Primary Care Providers, our goal is to improve overall health and well-being. Wellness checks and primary care are provided for patients within our practice.

Peer Support

Among our team of caring staff are Certified Peer Recovery Specialists who are trained to provide Peer Support. Feel confident knowing that our staff are passionate and empathetic about providing care to the populations we serve. As a part of our practice, you will never feel alone among team members who have experienced similar situations and are dedicated to understanding the needs of each individual.

How long does the intake process take?

The initial intake and assessment typically take about 60–90 minutes. During this time, we review your medical history, discuss treatment options, and verify insurance coverage.

What are your office hours?

Our hours vary by location. Winchester is open Wed-Fri, Front Royal is open Mon-Tues & Thurs, and Centreville is open Mon-Wed. Please visit our Locations page for specific times.

Do you offer counseling along with medication?

Yes. We believe in a whole-patient approach. Our MAT programs include access to individual and group counseling to support long-term recovery.
